Dementia Friends training 150 150 David

The UUVG is hoping to become a Dementia Friendly Community and so will be running Dementia Friends Information Sessions. Please support this so that our area is a great place to live and visit for all abilities and ages.

Information Sessions

Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions, who are trained and supported by the Alzheimer’s Society. Each Information Session lasts around one hour. You will learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities.

Please note – public Dementia Friends Information Sessions are only suitable for people aged under 18 if they are accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

Why become a Dementia Friend?

In the 2011 census there were approximately 1700 people living in the UUVG area and 350 were over 65. We know that 14% of over 65s are living with dementia : that’s about 50 people in our community. On top of that about one third of our community either need long term care or are providing that care.

The UUVG exists to make our area great to visit and great to live in. Our plan is to make the UUVG a demonstrably dementia friendly community both for people who live here and our visitors.
